Building Trust

Meeting in person can build a level of trust that can be difficult to establish online or over the phone. Of course, I want you to feel safe and get everything off your chest, but to do that, I know that you need to be comfortable with me and your surroundings, which is why my therapy rooms are set up for this purpose exactly.

Reaching beyond that surface level takes time, focus, and honesty, which can sound scary, but I promise it's all worth it. Having an hour to deep-dive beyond the surface level of your problems is crucial to making therapy worthwhile.

What is the most popular form of counselling?

Face to face, one to one counselling is the most popular form that I offer. 

Why is face-to-face counselling so good?

It is much easier to establish and maintain a good therapeutic relationship between us when we meet face to face. This is because we can both pick up on all of the non-verbal communication; body language, facial expressions, feelings and energies. 

Why is a good therapeutic relationship so important?

In order for the counselling, coaching or hypnotherapy to be successful there must be a good therapeutic relationship between us. Only once you totally trust me will you feel comfortable enough to talk about your difficult and often uncomfortable issues.

Can I talk about more than one issue?

Yes, in fact I believe in working with clients holistically. Therefore,  for example, if you seek help for anxiety I will often also do confidence work with you. 

Why don’t you specialise?

I enjoy helping a variety of clients with a variety of issues. 

Can’t you just fix me or tell me what to do?

No, it is not about fixing you. It is also not about what I think or feel. Everyone is different, and so there is not just one solution. Counselling is about exploring your issues together and uncovering resources within you so that you can fix yourself.
